1st Weekly reflection ( 13 /11/2022 to 18/11/2022)
As a part of the B.Ed curriculum, we have 12 week school teaching practice. We were allotted in punalur taluk samajam higher secondary school for boys ,Punalur. There are 4 trainees including me, two of them are in mathematics and the rest are in physical science. We already collected a time table from the school the previous week.
I was a little nervous because I thought that it is hard to manage a class with only boys. But each day I improved my self in class management and at the end of the week I understood how to manage a class scientifically. Some students didn't pay any attention to us. They think that B.Ed trainees are not their teachers so it is not necessary to respect them. This is not only my problem but also all trainees of my group have the same feelings. Appreciations and compliments have a very significant role in teaching. Every time I give them appreciation , then they have a tendency to do more problems quickly. They become more active participants in the classroom. I also felt that it is quite easy to teach students if they love the subject.
I got substitutions on UP classes. Unlike the high school students, UP students like B.Ed teachers. They are highly active too. At the end of the fifth day I felt more comfortable in classes for teaching and improved not only my classroom management skill but also other micro teaching skills too. Overall this week was quite good.
As a teacher, it's a great experience taking live classes for students at school. I succeeded in completing the lesson plan within the time limit. Two topics from the chapter were completed along with the problems related to them. Engaged in all the activities of the school like mid day meal serving, class exams, substitutions, etc. Interaction with colleagues was more beautiful to remember, each other supported us well in this weekly journey. We stick together in our thick and thin.
