COMMUNITY LIVING CAMP

Community living camp/ citizenship camp for the academic year 2021-2023 was organized from March 13, 2023 -  March 17, 2023 at the college campus.The programme inauguration was started in presence of parents, teachers and students, and this created awareness among the parents about the camp and its activities. College Principal Sri Balakrishna Kurup explained the information related to the camp. The official inauguration was done by Sri Vijayakumar, rtd Principal, Vilakudy Model High School in the presence of Sri Radhakrishnan Pillai, Vice president, NSS taluk Punalur, the principal of the college, college union chairman Sri Nidhin Hari.



Gandhi group coordinated the programmes and activities of the day. The first session was taken by Sri Vijayakumar on character development in teachers. It’s likely that this class was designed to help teachers enhance their ability to develop character in there students. After lunch we had a second session with Sri. Santhakumar, Faculty, GHS Muttara on the topic ‘Vijana Vismayam’ (wonders of science), highly interactive  class and he ensured the student’s  participation in each magic he showed. Evening, we had recreational activities conducted under the guidance of Balakrishna Kurup sir. We parted for the first day after the mock parliament and the review session of the day.




On the second day of the camp, the assembly was held followed by warm-up exercise followed by yoga practice. Pathanapuram Excise Officer Baiju Sir gave a class on the topic of drug use and anti-drug activities in campuses and its remedial measures. Then cultural programs were organized.Today’s duties were divided among the members of the Nehru group. Recreational activities were in the evening and we parted after the mock parliament.




On the third day of the camp, Netaji's team was tasked. The day started with an assembly and yoga was practiced. The first secession of the day was taken by Dr. Sam V Daniel, rtd Principal, MTTC Pathanapuram. He discussed how to achieve goals and have self esteem in life and slo talked about the career prospects for teachers. He took some time to explain the final semester  project, the steps to  be included in the project preparation. After lunch, we had a session with an officer from Kerala Fire And Safety, who took a class on disaster management, its phases and precautions and he demonstrated the working of a fire extinguisher. Evening, we had recreational activity on the ground and parted for the day after the mock parliament and announcements regarding the next day field trip. 

The fourth day was a trip to mango meadows. Tagore group assigned for tasks of the day. Mango meadows is an agriculture theme park in Kottayam district of Kerala, more attraction for a variety of flora and fauna. Each plant section is beautifully arranged. Learned about many plants like Neermatalam, Kadambari, Ankolam Chipapiri Valampiri, Lakshmi Tharu etc. There was also a man-made snake pit. Apart from this we got many entertainments like kuttavanchi, pedal boat, 12D cinema etc.



The 5th and final day of the camp, we had campus cleaning activities and agricultural activities. We also got an opportunity to visit Providence Home, Punalur. We returned from there after providing all the help we could. After the review meeting of the camp and sharing of experiences, the camp ended by singing the national anthem at 7 pm.

Overall it is a remarkable experience I had in my entire life. Each day of the camp was  structured around a series of sessions or activities that aim to promote personal growth, team building and community building. I hope we had all great time at the camp and we find it be a rewarding and memorable
